Radiation Oncology

Radiation therapy is the most widely used form of cancer treatment. With about 60% of all cancer patients undergoing this therapy as part of their overall treatment plan. In radiation therapy, a radiation oncologist plans to deliver targeted radiation to cancer cells and surrounding areas to treat the disease and sparing normal structures. The concept is to give maximum dose of radiation to cancer affected parts and minimum radiation should go to normal organs.
